The food at Haole in Hawaii is not up to par, especially with its well-prepared menu and affordable prices. The mac salad was unappetizing and made of raw ingredients like portuguese sausage and a bag of chips on the side, while the pocho doggs were served with rice and hot dogs for garnish.
Upon camping at the San Mateo campground, we decided to have lunch and ordered hapa nachos with chicken wings, man fries, and a mixed plate. Although they were not overly sweet, the pulled pork nachgos were almost identical to the naches but had BBQ sauce that added some moisture to them. The latter was better than our nachora mix, which also included two kaloku sides and crispy dumplings.
The staff is friendly and there's ample seating, but Hapas has lost its reputation as a reliable food institution in the area. I'm guessing they're now taking over their former glory. The coleslaw was too chewy and smelled terrible, and the bulgogi was dry and questionable from the boarder line; nevertheless, my meal was just plain awful without any tanginess on it.
On a Taco Tuesday, it was incredibly rainy outside, but we had an amazing taco. The staff at the place was so friendly and welcoming, even though the food tasted terrible (I can't remember which one was better). We also enjoyed the attentive service and clean tables. It definitely exceeded our expectations.
We arrived at this unique and fun spot on the east edge of San Clemente on a Friday night. The vibe, decor, food, and overall experience were perfect for our dining experience. Our drinks were served perfectly, but the service was top-notch, including complimentary cocktails and souvenirs. Plus, we bought Hawaiian island merch featuring Hapa J's logo that is inspired by Hawaii Island...Great place to enjoy any meal!
Their food and service are outstanding, including great happy hour specials, free parking across the street, and excellent customer service. They have a large bar area and ample seating for even those who wait for lunch or dinner. The staff is welcoming and helpful, with plenty of room to dine around, as well as onsite snacks and drinks.
Hapa J's is a great spot to enjoy delicious food and drink after waking up from booze, with its generous serving size and excellent quality of food. Although my stomach was quite full after my first surfing session, my review may not be complete as there are drinks on tap for under $4 each (compared to the regular $8). I also enjoyed consuming multiple meat dishes, which did not come with kalua pork but I found the mixed plate to be more appish.
My niece and her hubby brought me along with her mother, brother Noah, and girlfriend for a birthday celebration. We had an amazing time at this place, which was highly recommended. The food was delicious, but we couldn't finish everything! Plus, they serve generous portions! Thank you so much!
It's a great spot for those craving some Hawaiian food and drink. The portions are generous, and the after-show specials are also excellent. I would suggest trying the nachos or the fried rice and Mac salad combo.
The bartender at the restaurant I went to had a very busy Friday night, and although I got some delicious Maui cocoanut porter and appetizers, I felt like we were being served too much. My favorite dish was the Kailuan pork quesadillas; it was amazing! However, they seemed overcooked considering my preference for crispy potstickers. And there was also the cheese cake that was perfect!!!
