Despite being situated in the heart of the busy east side of Bakersfield, this restaurant is an excellent choice for dining. My first time here and my plan was to grab a drink and enjoy some quick tacos before heading down to the mall with my friends after work. I had hoped to have gin and tonic on tap, but it was disappointing seeing how heavy the food was overall.

I loved the food. I ordered a molelette (three), but I had to finish it solo due to its size. The salsa is boiling and hot, not hot enough; also, we were served hot soup and salads several times by the server without being given any water upon our arrival. Our meal was appetizing, but we ended up asking for napkins and receiving no tortillas or other items while waiting in the restaurant. However, they were neither satisfactory!

The margaritas were $7.00 for happy hour, while the platter we ordered cost $18. Our meal included bacon wrapped jalapeos, breaded shrimp and chicken flauta's chips, a perfectly cooked avocado bowl (the wine is amazing! ), and flawlessly cooked chile verde with just the right amount of flavor and heat; the service was also average at this price point.

I was fortunate enough to sneak in and order a quick order. The food and the atmosphere were delightful, and we would definitely return for another meal. Although the staff was busy, they were friendly and accommodating.

Value

The place is new to me, as my dad introduced me to it and we both had mini tacos with chips and salsa. I recently visited this place again and noticed a stage at the front that looked like he was holding dj or bands. The bartender guy there was very knowledgeable about everything from food deals to beer bots; i even tried ordering some chips.

Vibe

Our visit to vatos was a triumph of our time. We had previously tried visiting their east side location, but the waiters were extremely long. My neighbor had recommended this place and we made reserving online for another double-date. The service was excellent, they always checked us in, and our drinks were always served hot and delicious. I couldn't have asked for more!
