The food was not exceptional, but the bartender/server at Kristian is outstanding. He kept the atmosphere lively and accommodating even when the restaurant was busy with two waiters. We appreciated his thoughtfulness and positive attitude. Thank you for your help!!
Bar Envious, the recently reopened eatery in the area, is not new to the scene, having already built up a few successful restaurants in Long Beach. The owners and chef are known for their innovative yet delicious cuisines, which offer an extensive selection of cocktails including hot honey bee cocktail with gin/lime syrup and fresco honey.
It seemed as though I had just arrived in New Orleans! We were meeting up for karaoke and Sarah, the bartender, was very helpful. She provided me with drinks including "float" cocktails and ice cream, which totally went better than expected;) The food was amazing! And it's great that Kim and Noe are truly talented cooks! Such a beautiful place- I can only imagine my life without the clean and cozy atmosphere of this place.
Everything about the food was amazing except for the crab dip and the boiled Okra, which was delicious. We also had the meat in the hamburger bun (which was too good to be true)! The service was terrible- nobody brought plates of noodles but everyone else arrived with drinks on hand; no real alcohol drink available. Wouldn't it be bad again?
Despite not knowing the exact day, we arrived on Saturday. The waiter and server were both accommodating and pleasant; the atmosphere was lively with plenty of tables and games. Our meal was excellent, including some tasty crab dip and burger sandwiches, although our drinks were not overly sweet. We also enjoyed the serviceable bar staff.
During their all-night happy hour on Tuesday, I had a great time and enjoyed sitting at the bar with my boozy milkshake accompanied by retro toy commercials on their TVs. It's reminiscent of summer when most people don't have fun drinking in public places.
Our friends were able to find a great spot for supper on Friday night, thanks to the bar envy location that offered better food options than downtown. The staff was attentive, but our visit left us with mixed emotions as we had to choose from several menus available without any obvious changes in taste or quantity.
Last night, I went to a local bar named E envie for supper with some friends. Though I haven't tried the food yet, it was worth trying. The food served was divine and there were plenty of options such as smoked boloney sandwiches and spicy fried frogs legs. Local favorites included Chef Carlos of Selva, who cooked up this dish perfectly, and the cocktail menu was presented with attention-grabbing ingredients by former saint&second barkeep Laurence Laurie in her signature style.
Despite my preference for more traditional food options, I'm pleased with the quality of the food and drinks I was served. I ended up choosing an old-fashioned diner at Happy Hour, which had a unique and pleasant atmosphere that wasn't too sweet. The waitress there seemed to be very helpful, even offering complimentary sandwiches instead of hot dogs or salads.
We had a lovely sunny Sunday and were treated to an amazing meal with chicken skin, spicy frog legs, shrimp & grits, mashed salad w/chicken, and burgers. The food was delicious, the cook and server were outstanding, while the local's gatekeeping was also impressive. I'm eagerly looking forward to returning to this spot! Highly recommended!
