There are few places like The Galley in Santa Monica anymore. It's an iconic spot that you should definitely visit if you have the chance to go there.
It's undoubtedly one of the best steakhouses and seafood places in LA! Our server informed us that their new chef, who recently started working on the kitchen, was a great addition to our menu. The clam chowder we ordered absolutely tasted amazing! We couldn't have asked for more fantastic soup or sides from any other restaurant...unbelievable! Enjoy!
Excellent service, food and overall atmosphere! The proprietor introduced himself and we had a great time. Food is delectable and portions are plentiful at this location with good value.
With a history dating back to 1934, Santa Monica's oldest restaurant/bar boasts upscale decor and comfortable patios. The food served here is both delicious and affordable, making it an ideal spot for those seeking deluxe dining experiences.
The service and food were not bad, but the prices weren't enough for their price. The drinks were also good, although they were still expensive considering the Christmas lights were already up when we visited in March. This place is not recommended for those who love its atmosphere outdoors. I would highly recommend this establishment.
Back in the late 70s, I frequented The Galley before Ocean Park became a trendy destination. They still have an authentic atmosphere and serve up delectable dishes like seafood with nutty flavor. My husband and I visited during Labor Day weekend last year; the interior is slightly cooler now than when we were living in New York City. Although the food was pricier, the scallop appetizer may have been more expensive at three servings.
I had a pleasant dining experience, and I think this restaurant outshines some of the most excellent steakhouses in the area. Bravo!
The Galley offers plenty of entertainment options. The interior is filled with enough visual interest to keep you occupied for a quick evening date or family gathering. Although the food is not particularly impressive and the drinks are on the moderate side, they do offer some flavor from sailor's liver. You should expect to pay $15 per cocktail but can expect alcohol after 2 drinks. Children under 18 must also participate in decorating. There is an added charge of $55.
During our birthday party, we had a great time at this place. The staff was welcoming and the food served quickly, with limited options available such as chips, salsa, and guacamole. We also enjoyed the galleyburger, pankoko sandwiches (grilled chicken breast), and barbecued vegetables in an olive oil oil drizzle. Our stay was enjoyable, but it wasn't overly busy; overall, it was delicious!
Our meal was decent, except for the chili peppers and spinach. The waitress did not provide adequate service and didn't inquire about our food or drink preferences. We were left with a runny beverage after sitting outside in the sun all day.
