Despite the fact that the restaurant is situated on s in downtown San Francisco, it's worth noting that parallel parking is mostly available nearby, but construction can make it difficult to find space. I accidentally parked my car at a safeway due to being against parallel charging and ended up walking up to their event area instead.
The restaurant is shabby and overly decorated, lacking any real flair. Our meal was disappointing due to the lack of attention to detail displayed by the waitstaff at the front desk during my shift from LA to LA.
The next time we ventured past hook and ladder, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of service and food served. Our server was attentive and provided us with tips on drinks. We tried two coctails that had a halloween theme and were impressed by their creativity and flavor. My husband chose the chicken sandwich while my husband went for one and both appreciated the burger, which had an amazing taste. Both ended up being good.
The food, service, and overall vibe of this place is outstanding. The front host explained the traditional meaning of hook & ladders to us, which helped convey the uniqueness of the structure and architecture with their old firehouse references. Brunch was also exceptional, with great selection of standard drinks (including pepper vodka bloody mary), delicious beer offerings, fantastically flavored menu items, even the basic two egg breakfast that went perfectly!
This brunch spot offers a sophisticated menu that allows for plenty of creative options. I couldn't have asked for more and my favorite dish was the porchetta hash, which was served with my boyfriend's avocado toast. The service and food were also outstanding!
The hook and ladder menu was incredibly tasty, especially the pizza they had on their crusts! The service and overallambiance of the place were all very welcoming and the drinks and appetizers were complimentary. I went there to celebrate my job promotion and couldn't have asked for more:)
I had a lovely sunday brunch at their beautiful patio, where the brunch options were limited to 5€ per person. The deeds on the crispy and caramelized French toast was surprisingly tasty, surprising even my lack of fondness for french toast (which wasn't my cup of tea) and the addition of caramel apples.
There's a hidden gem in midtown where the food is always delicious, and the hook-and-lady sandwich from the big mac is incredibly inventive. The wine list is impressive, with plenty of variety and not just one drink for everyday drinking. It'll also have oodles of plants to showcase and eat at the spacious back patio (which has some pretty neat little tables) and it feels like home.
Despite the limited opening hours during the week, we had a great time at this restaurant for lunch and dinner with my friends. The waitstaff was friendly and helped us get our fillings in before the shift even started, which was nice considering the service provided. We also had some decent food, including calamari, broccolini from the garden, and burgers from their nearby restaurant.
Upon discovering the restaurant through a chance, I quickly made up my mind to visit their newly renovated and cozy "wes anderson" cocktail menu. We were served three cocktails by the waiter, which were all delish: fried chicken sandwich, spicy grandma pizza, and garlic shrimp and tater tots. All of our cocktails were delicious and perfectly balanced, with both sides enjoying complimentary drinks.
